Brown switches not feeling the same?
« on: Wed, 07 January 2015, 08:18:31 »
I got myself a Ducky Shine3 about a year ago.
It was so good I ordered a Ducky Zero for work, but it's as if these switches are harder to press down despite both are with brown switches.

I've looked for a Shine3 in vain, since I'm located in Denmark and need it to be with Nordic layout there's almost no vendors available. The vendors that exist (and ship to Denmark) don't carry Shine3 any more.

Has anyone got a Shine4 and Shine3 with brown switches? Do they feel the same?
I'd rather not spend another fortune on a keyboard bought in Finland just to receive the same kind of "hard" switches :/

Different batch of switches and different keyboards or key caps influences the way switches feel. I have tried blue and brown switches on different keyboards and they never feel exactly the same.

I actually tried pulling some switches off the Shine3 and put them on the Zero, but it didn't change anything, so it kinda have to be the switches them self.
If it's the switches in the Shine3 that are different from "normal", then I guess I'm just out of luck :/

Eyeing a Filco at the moment, might pull the trigger on that and hope for the best.

Is it possible that you merely have a slightly tighter batch, that will become easier after you have used the keyboard for a while?
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

I was hoping for that, and I've actually been using it for a couple of months now.
There's still a very noticable difference between the Zero and the Shine3 though. So much so that my fingers can get a bit tired if I've had a very typey day.

I was searching the forum and saw some posts about lubing the switches.
The switches on the Zero are with LED though, so that's probably not gonna happen I guess, since what I saw required you to take the switches apart.
