WTB/WTT Plate Mounted REDS for BLUES
« on: Thu, 22 January 2015, 11:38:22 »
Hi all,

So, I'm looking to hot swap the switches on my Noppoo to blues.

Would anyone be interested in trading switches? or selling 84 blue switches for a reduced price? :D

I'm in the UK and can ship wherever.

The Red switches will be harvested from the keyboard in verification pic.

I don't know what you mean by hot swap, but I don't think you can just take out the stems without desoldering.

That said, you only need blue stems since blues and reds use the same springs.

Right now the only blue stems I have are jailhouse modded. If you're interested in buying them we could do a deal. I won't be un-modding them even if you paid me extra, though. I am interested in promoting my mod which I like very much.
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

I should rephrase.
I just meant I'm planning on desoldering and replacing with blues.

What's the difference between normal and jailhouse blues?

I've read that they're essentially "locked down?"
Does this mean they lose their click at all? or just create a stiffer switch?

Rather than have me reiterate all the good stuff about jailhouse blues I think you should just search for that phrase.

Anyway, this is the most silent switch mod for Cherry MX. It is very tactile. It feels great. The activation point is high. It is more responsive than other MX tactiles. It is also lighter because of the higher activation point. I consider it vastly superior to Topre.

The main change from regular blues is no audible click. This is very important if you want to actually use the keyboard in an office environment.
