More TKL Cherry mx blue TKL options in ISO layout?
« on: Fri, 30 January 2015, 06:34:09 »
I was set on a WASD V2 with a set of doubleshot ABS keycaps (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-023-OP) but with shipping and import tax even the barebones will end up being quite expensive.

I don't care about backlighting, but media keys are a must, which unfortunately writes off the Filco MJ2 (which in any case is out of stock and pricey).

Could anyone lend a hand in suggesting TKL ISO layout keyboards that have media keys in mx blues and are standard key sizes so i can replace the keycaps?

There's always a Quickfire TK but i'm not sure a) build quality and b) if the keycaps are standard?

Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

Those keycaps look like TaiHao caps. They're okay for the price (medium thickness OEM profile), but don't expect them to be as good as more expensive doubleshots like Cherry profile GMK or SA profile from Signature Plastics.

They will at least be a little better than the stock Ducky Zero caps, though.

Ducky has tenkeyless keyboards without backlighting also.

CM Storm QuickFire Rapid-I is available in ISO with MX blue switches. The Rapid-I is built differently from the QuickFire Rapid (which is not available with blue switches in ISO), and it has backlighting.

Can't seem to find retailers for the rapid-i in iso with mx blues or i would probably pick one up. Same goes for the Ducky without backlighting - i can find ducky TKLs with blues with blue backlighting though.

You're right, there's a weird dearth of TKL w/blue at the moment. Your best bet is probably to get a backlit Ducky and just leave the lighting off. Overclockers have them for £90 just now, so it's not much of a premium over the non-backlit zeros that CCL and the like were selling for £70-odds. Annoying to have to spend extra for a feature you don't want though. You might want to email CCL or Kustom to see if they could get a non-backlit in for you, or post a WTB on the classifieds.
