Model F Soarers Converter random key presses.
« on: Thu, 05 February 2015, 22:33:51 »
I found a IBM Model F XT with the 5 Din connector and successfully made a Soarers Converter with a Pro Micro from China a few months ago and it worked well for a few months. I am now getting random key presses without pressing any keys and pressing the keys does nothing. After replacing the pro micro with another one the problem is still present. Its apparent to me that its either a driver issue or it is they keyboard its self. I am going to crack open the keyboard this weekend and see if I can find any obvious issues.

My question is, if its the keyboard can i replace the internals or am I SOL, the keyboard is in great condition physically so it could be worth it to replace the guts. Personally it appears to me that it's either not getting enough power or its been given too much power and some thing is burnt out but I'll have to get a closer look. I have access to an oscilloscope if that is necessary.

Also this is my first post, came over from /r/mk because I need real help.

I'm reading back through soarer's thread on here and I think I might try a 1k pull up resistor and see how that works, It really cleans up his signal. I love typing on the model F so much, much better than my blues, I need to get it back working.
