New to GH, some questions for MODs?
« on: Sat, 07 March 2015, 15:18:25 »
Hey there, I'm new here, and I don't want to break any rules.
I make some 3D printed stuff -> http://imgur.com/a/yvmQe http://imgur.com/a/KQX5l
I was hoping to try and start a small business out of it and was wondering if there was any place for me to advertise this type of stuff on these forums?

If a Moderator could let me know if that's cool and which sub-forum this would be appropriate in (this stuff is all custom made at home) I'd really appreciate it.

Also, Hi to everyone reading this :)

You can create an artisan services page, however you will need to rack up some posts first. I would recommend sharing your designs on the forums and interacting a bit. Let us get to know you!  :thumb:

I figured as much, but since it somewhat qualifies as self-advertising I would like to make sure before I start potentially breaking TOS.

No worries man, you can post about your product as long as you are open about the fact that you plan on selling them soon. People here like spending money on cool stuff so we dont worry too much about what is advertised  :p

mods feel free to correct me  :))

Welcome to Geekhack!

I'm not sure there are any minimum requirements to ask for an artisan thread, although if you are a new-comer to the forum people might be a bit wary for a while.  If you post around and make yourself known, you could make some contacts who could help you with this (if you need help).

Otherwise you can always PM a mod - their names generally appear in a different colour at the bottom of the main GH page.

And would you believe it - for the second time I can remember, there are no mods online!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Messaged several mods, can't seem to get a reply from anyone. Not sure if I'm not worth the time or if I'm not messaging the right people.

If anyone can suggest an active mod that I can PM I would appreciate it.

HoffmanMyster is usually quite responsive, and can probably point you in the right direction.

And would you believe - no mods or admins online again!  Third time I have ever seen that!
