Emerging from my filthy hole of plebedom
« on: Sun, 08 March 2015, 16:34:03 »
As a lifelong time admirer of the model M's, the mighty Jwaz introduced me to Geekhack and I've been lurking ever since. I just went on a small pilgrimage and found myself a NIB 1986 Model M with the decals and stuff at a junk store and since I like building just about anything I can get parts for,  I figured now would be a good time to introduce myself before I slip deeper into the clicky-rabbit hole.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Yay Model M!

Usually there seem to be more new members with Pokers, but now it seems that the Model M is the most popular keyboard!

I have two, btw, and an SSK on the way ...
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
