IMSTO vs. Ivan PBT sets
« on: Fri, 13 March 2015, 12:53:00 »
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I was just wondering what the primary difference was between IMSTO's thick PBT sets (not the BSP ones he's currently doing) and Ivan's. Any information is appreciated, including who makes them, thickness differences, texture, etc.

Thanks!

Imsto only handles the dye-sublimation process. The cherry profile PBT caps are actually manufactured by KBC/Vortex. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe imsto is a part of the KBC community.

That was my understanding as well, KBC/Vortex/etc produces the keys and IMSTO handles the dye sublimation.

IMSTO does not make their own PBT caps, they only do dye sublimation.
The group buy that IMSTO ran on his site was using BSP PBT.
Main things to not about BSP
-IIRC they do not have their own spacebar mould
-the right shift key is bent like a banana. Still usable, but it just looks odd
-the homing keys are centred nipples and that is all they have

Vortex... I actually don't know anything about them.

From Ivan's PBT Round 4 GB:

Using KBC/Vortex Cherry thick again (but WILL MAKE SURE the full touch caps lock is done right this time!!!). Not in the mood to wait another year for PLUM to make something.

The answer is nothing at all as far as the actual keys go, they come from the same keycap factory. Only differences are legends options that we each offer, and imsto has offered the sets in all blue, and all grey.
