Poker 2 Lube and SIP modding
« on: Sat, 25 April 2015, 09:58:28 »
Hey folks.

I modded my poker just a few days ago and finally got the time to upload the images and write this text.
I ordered some weeks ago Lube and SIP sockets and also LEDs in ZealPCs shop. Thanks for the green tea kitkat ;)
On a sunny day i decided to do my stuff and desolder all switches, lube them, install the SIP sockets and solder them in again. Thats a hell of work, as i found out.

Attention. Those are a LOT of images in the spoiler.
More
My Solderstation. Toolcraft ST - 100D.
The soldersucker sucks /s

The PCB
Underside of the Poker II PCB. Switches still soldered in, but no LEDs.

Those are already soldered out.
Took me like 15 minutes, as my soldersucker sucks /s

First few Cherry MX Brown Switches

We go on.
Until now 2 hours of work. Still just desoldering switches.

I can't explain why i lay them like this.

An empty plate with PCB.
The plate isnt designed to open Switches while those are soldered to the PCB.

61 Cherry MX Browns.

Lets begin the joy.

Switch bottom with stock spring

Switch top and slider

All together

Artsy Shot of an open switch

Logitech G110 rubberdome, as i need a KB while doing the work.

Already lubed a few switches, they sound fantastic.
Only mounted, not soldered in.

My progression to far.

Did i ever told you i use a Acrylic Case from Tex?

Well, now you know.

Those SIP sockets. They fit. But it sucks to put them in.

HKP Gasmask white. Currently with a white 2x3x4 LED.

All Switches mounted, soldered in. LEDs are in the SIP sockets.
Spacebar got a colorchanging LED, as Enter and ESC got.

With SP PBT DSA keycaps. Blank ofc.

My fov.

Those colorchanging LEDs draw to much current to use on the whole board :(

Enter the fun.

Colorchanging LED with the Gasmask.
The really nice part is ...

... when the red fades in ...

... the eyes start to glow ...

... like hell ...

... but when green comes ...

... the lights go out ...

... but the head still glows ...

... looks really unique ...

... dark blue ...

... and again red.

Currently i'm quite happy with the board. But might do further modification.
