ThinkPad Mechanical Keyboard is real
« on: Fri, 11 December 2015, 15:10:26 »
Hello folks,
I don't know if already noticed but for ¥1999  (~$300 usd) now you can buy a true mechanical Thinkpad keyboard:

http://m.lenovo.com.cn/search-result.html?key=ThinkPad%E5%B0%8F%E7%BA%A2%E7%82%B9%E6%89%8B%E5%B7%A5%E6%9C%BA%E6%A2%B0%E9%94%AE%E7%9B%98%E7%BA%A2%E8%89%B2

Looks great, I would like to give a try but is sooo expensive....

Looks like that's exactly what it is.

I bet TEX is still the manufacturer, and Lenovo licenses them for rebranding.

Well, for this price I will continue by using my poor Sun Type 7 keyboard... at least already have the 2 USB ports, all I need is paste a ThinkPad sticker to make me feel better  ;D

It is, but it's also another case of branding causing price to skyrocket. It really does fit, but c'mon...
I will admit it is a good pairing.

Half Life 3 Confirmed

I love how simple it is. No one trying to be clever and witty in the marketing department, no one trying to make it sound cool or edgy or high class for business types.

Just, "Finally .... We made for Lenovo ThinkPad"

Right on, TEX.

That is a lot classier than I had expected.  That seriously wouldn't look bad slapped on an original Yoda, haha.

Or dell

Now you're just giving me crazy ideas of putting a new Dell logo sticker on my old logo Dell AT101 so it can be both an old and new logo Dell AT101 all in one. ;)

Thanks that you brought this to my attention! But $300? :) Okay actually I'm not surprised, Lenovo was always overpriced.
ThinkPad USB Keyboard with TrackPoint is a good keyboard even though it has scissor switches (not the latest, which is very far from ThinkPad quality... as the latest ThinkPad notebook models as well, but this is another story).

Lenovo  deserve to be called Conscience enterprise of America.
As a Chinese company,it sell production more expensive in China.
It is selling on the http://www.thinkworldshop.com.cn/pm/51077.html?twsrm2
I  think no one will buy it with this price.

Yep, I've got one. It's very good for a laptop-based keyboard and the pointer is incredibly convenient. Too bad they don't make them anymore (well, they make chicklet ones which kinda suck)

Okay...is this Shadovved's store, or what?

http://www.modsticker.com/products/Cherry-Metal-Logo-Sticker.html

http://www.modsticker.com/products/Transformers-Metal-Logo-Sticker.html

I don't think this is Shadovved's source, but all of my searches turned up only asian companies that do this sort of thing. Apparently this is called electroform nickel stickers. I ordered a handful of stickers from modsticker to check the quality, but they apparently don't do custom stickers.

Totally agree! This chiclet madness completely ruined ThinkPad laptops' keyboard (lower matter quality is my minor problem, the insane remap and positions of the function buttons was the true murder).

Back to mechanical keyboards, the The Miniguru (http://www.guru-board.com/) looks much more better to me and it is programabble.
This ThinkPad keyboard lacks of programmability (correct me pls if I'm wrong).

Pretty sure the TEX Yoda, which this Thinkpad branded keyboard is, is programmable itself.

FYI - I ordered an assortment of stickers from modSticker and I asked if they could do custom stickers. They replied and said that a minimum would be 100 MOQ, but yes they could customs.

I ordered a ThinkPad sticker and a few others. I'll post pictures once they arrive.

Shadovved is planning a second round coming soon, which will probably be less expensive than going with a new vendor, but anything is possible.

I wish they'd done something closer to the trackpoint mouse buttons! i don't like the idea of long-travel MX switches as mouse buttons.

actually scratch that, i don't like the idea of mx switches in general.

I just tried the trackpoint buttons on my Thinkpad and I can confirm the travel is like the third of an MX switch, this is a very important design feature.
