originative classic beige (blue) = bsp olivetti pbt dyesub
« on: Tue, 05 May 2015, 08:31:33 »
It's pretty clear to me that they are the same, but wanted to make sure before I even consider taking the risk with Originative. Wanted to see if anyone can comment. Thanks!

This Is a GMK set, not BSP.

This is BSP

As Data said, please don't waste your time shopping there.

Thanks, makes sense. In either case, I won't be shopping there because I wanted the BSP set with included spacebar, which is not the case on Originative.

Much obliged.

If you order and don't receive within a week or so, simply contact your CC company and request a refund. Easy as pie and no risk.

Yes, I have the red version. BSP is the only keycap manufacturer in Denmark that I know of, they don't outright say GMK on some that are either.

GMK doesn't even do PBT, so that should be enough right there to differentiate the two.  :thumb:

Yea I was talking about the description on some of originative's sets lists made in Germany with original cherry doubleshot molds or things like that without actually saying GMK.

Re: risk of going with Originative. Do be careful of this, very, very careful. I ordered something this past Monday (CMYW + WoR Cherry ESC + Wooden Puller) and it's shipped to me, with even USPS updating position. So, you might get lucky, but be sure to watch your shipping notice (and the related tracking number) like a hawk and contest the charge if things don't look right ASAP.

I also talked to a redditor who said she got something successfully from Originative lately, so maybe he's back... Maybe this is just "a good time" for him and he can ship, but no matter what, he's got a lot of trust to build back up for sure. So, be careful.

I received a Cryllic set from him a couple weeks ago, with a positive experience as well. Tracking was spot on through the process.

With that said, I took a huge risk and was prepared to dispute the charges if need be.

I ordered a Dolch set from Originative last Thursday, and I received it yesterday.  I'm considering getting more stuff while the getting is good...

I didn't know that BSP was based in Denmark, how interesting  :)

I ordered a few things recently, which shipped ASAP but my order was 1) missing an entire set of caps and 2) I received a partial CMYW with some a random (dolch?) tab caps, two R shifts, and a missing L shift and 1.5 Alt.

I've sent two emails now with no reply, so - caveat emptor.

I sent an email to support and sales and they got bounced back. I have no idea how this business stays afloat.

I also found the FB of the owner. Won't say anything other then: it kind of makes sense.  :p

How can they be the only site that I can find that sells these lovely, desirable, sets if their customer support and reputation is so terrible? Why hasn't anyone else stepped in? Weird.

Yeah stuff with originative is hit or miss, sometimes he'll vanish.  Other times he'll ship your items on-time.

I've got my keycaps from him before so it worked out.

But proceed with caution.

I would say prepare to call you bank before you order, and make sure you use a credit card instead of debit card because sometimes is pain in the ass to do a charge back while using a debit card.

Sure!
BSP is a company based out of Denmark, and Ivan is getting his latest round of PBT caps from Vortex(based out of China I believe.)  While BSP PBT does feel nicer(to me) than any Vortex caps I've tried, they unfortunately lack many molds to fit most mass produced keyboards, they also do not make any mx spacebars at this time either and have a few weird things going on with their stems, along with a wonky right shift key. Also, BSP's bottom row caps are in A profile, which sit slightly higher than most cherry profile keysets.

Thanks for reply :D Are the dyesubbed legends fairly comparable? I'm in for a Cherry Blue on R4 and I may just stick with that; save ~40USD and stress over Originative.

I would say they're comparable, imsto is handling r4, I would definitely just stick with r4, because you'll not only save $40, you'll also get caps that are usable immediately depending on what you're putting them on.  I could never justify paying $125+ for a set that I would need to buy additional keys for just to use, no matter how nice they felt.
