Poker 2 Mini USB fix
« on: Sat, 06 June 2015, 20:41:27 »
My 11 month old pulled my Poker2 off the keyboard tray from behind, and it fell on the mini usb port.  This probably happened a couple times before the solder joints gave way and lo and behold no Poker2.  But, there is light at the end of the tunnel.  I was able to solder it back on by dropping a bit of solder on my iron tip smearing it across the pins and then wicking up the excess where they were bridged. The tiny pins are located at the rear of the port almost under the port itself and it took some effort but is possible to do.  I also gave the outer pins extra solder to reinforce the port.  You do not have to desolder the switches as the port is SMD.  Just thought I would post this for anyone else in this predicament so they don't give up on their keyboard. ;D
