Indeed it's amazing how the build the P1's!

17hrs to go and the #17 Porsche mantains the lead, which is super impressive given Audi's race pace and history of winning at the track, given that this is Porsche's only second attempt.
Also happens to be my car! :D
Excited to see how the race pans out as it heads into the night!

Shame Nissan couldn't get the Hybrid system working for the race but there pace and cars are running well, excited what they can do in Austin later in the year!

Just five hours left and it's a Porsche 1-2!

The biggest impact of the night was one of the LMP2 cars going off at the Porscge Curves:

As we go into the final two hours, here is the top runners:

The leading LMP1 car leading the race and running with two Le Mans rookies, one of which is current Force India F1 driver Nico Hulkenburg! (Guessed that spelling)

And there it is!!! The winners of the 24 Hours of Le Mans are Porsche with #19! Driven by two Le Mans rookies including F1 driver Nico Hulkenburg!

It's a fantastic result and was a great race, in only there second season back Porsche have taken Audi's holy grail. Porsche finish 1-2 ahead of the two leading Audi's. And amazingly one of the Nissan cars made the finish line to complete the race, a feat Porsche didn't manage on there first attempt back at Le Mans.

The most incredible thing is that the racing was so close for the first 12-ish hours in the LMP1. When they had covered the distance of roughly two F1 races, the distance between the leader and the second car was less than in most f1 races and there were 4 cars on the leading lap after midnight local time. That is amazing.

Have to agree that it is indeed impressive what Porsche have done, especially given that Audi's race pace was actually higher than the Porsches (weird outcome given qualifying) and Porsche beat Audi on their home turf: reliability. I can't say for sure, but nothing really ever happened to #19, did it? With that said, I think the number of people at Porsche thinking #19 would be victorious is probable rather small. #17 or #18 would be a safer bet. Or indeed the #7 Audi. A cumulative of 2 previous Le Mans starts among the three of them. Wow. Just wow.

Yeah the #7 Audi was the favorites to win by a country mile... but yeah and amazing result for the #19 which yeah, I think had a pretty much perfect race, bar the start. Though I think if it  hadn't been for that questionable drive through for #17, it would have been #17 that won it... but anyways, what a race and what a result, I only hope this pushes Nico into a better team for next year.

And with the race over, I'll close out the 'coverage' of it with some picture highlights via IncreadibleThings gallery!

I was in Wales yesterday so I wasn't able to watch any of it :(

Glad Nico got the win though, looks like it was an exciting race.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?
