Possible to use Royal Kludge domes on HHKB?
« on: Tue, 07 July 2015, 20:07:03 »
I know the domes on the royal kludge is a single sheet. Would it be hard to cut the sheet up and put the 55g domes into the hhkb?

It sounds like if the design of the domes are the same, sure. But why would you? The domes will most likely feel worse and not topre like, just like the royal kludge.

It's much better idea to just buy a 55g RF, transplant the domes and put the 45g domes in your RF and sell it...

Because royal kludge domes are mx compatible.

No idea if you can OP.

Design looks very similar and it sells for less than 100$ iirc.

The sliders have nothing to do with the domes.. Switching out the domes will do nothing but gain an inferior feeling with stock sliders, at a higher weighting.

We are talking about the rubber inside the board. That is where all the feels come from.

In other words, you haven't tried the RK.

It must be pleasant going through life just assuming things.

I wasn't giving an exact review, I was going off of most of what I have heard from others and their experience with the RK.

My apology if I have offended you in some way, it was not my intention. I was simply sharing some of what I have heard.

You didn't offend me at all.  I'm just saying you should treat the RK as it's own switch.  I can also say that there are others who prefer the RK over the Topre.

For me the Topre price doesn't match the hype.

Fair enough, I probably shouldn't have said "Worse" something more accurate would probably be "Don't expect the same feeling switch if you do so"

I might have to give the RK a shot. Did you prefer the 55g version or the 45g? I'm thinking the 55 version...

I prefer the 55g.  As a matter of fact I'd be curious what 65g would be like.  That's not to say the 45g sucks as it's Ergo-Clear'ish.

My #1 biggest complaint with Topre is the stabilizers suck so bad.  RK comes nicely greased from the factory so the stabilizers are buttery smooth.
