Losing the click?

Has anyone heard of a clicky switch losing its click? I have an Ergodox w/ Matias Click switches and about two weeks after soldering the switches on, two of them are no longer clicky. The tactile bump is almost non-existent, too. What the heck is happening?

Click leaf possibly needs to be re-bent. Happens especially when you store something on top of the switches for a while. See my video tutorial on maintaining Alps switches here:

Repairs will require desoldering the switch and either replacing/repairing the bottom housing for the switch, or replacing the entire switch completely.

The bottom half of the housing unit has the metal leaf that from your description, appears to be misaligned.

Thanks all for your help. I think I'll replace the switch b/c I have spares. I do wonder though: How did the click leaf get bent? They were perfect when I installed them and it's only been a couple of weeks since I built the board... :confused:

Materials gave out much sooner than expected. You'll never have a perfect anything and sometimes things just break earlier. It's like when your HD fails after you just got it two weeks ago.

God knows xD .

Seriously though I'd just try to reclick them like in my video, doesn't need soldering at all. Especially if the switch still registers it's probably something quite simple...

The only switch I have that's losing (pretty much lost) its click is the Esc on one of my SSKs.

Although that could be a couple of broken rivets around the affected area, or some other such affliction of such an ailing keyboard.
