[IC] Keyboard of the Month Calendar - IC form live
« on: Mon, 14 December 2015, 22:37:31 »
Sooo, I have had some interest so far for a Keyboard of the Month calendar, and I was wondering what the actual interest would be.

This is the site that would be used -> http://www.teamcalendars.co.uk/t/pricelist

The calendar would come as a 13 leaf calendar similar to this:

Obviously with keyboards instead of cars...

The winner for the month would be the main picture, then the other nominees would be at the bottom, with another photo of the winner at the bottom, unless it is a month where there were four boards nominated, in which case the fourth would be included at the bottom instead.

The price would be depending on how many people want calendars, but prices start at £3.70 for 50, and go down to £1.99 each at 500 orders.

Postage will depend where in the world you are, but all would be shipped out of the UK.

Not sure how long it takes, and I've never done a GB before, so I'm not sure how long everything will take. I will probably do it after Christmas as well, so I don't know how that will affect the interest. I would like to donate all profits to GH as well.

LeandreN has helped me with the IC form and here it is -> https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1lk8OTbab2JZREKvjv68xUFZYmOdcWMGInipU--Kd8vg/viewform?usp=send_form

I love this idea, especially since it's very comprehensive and not only highlights winners, but nominees! Really cool!

I know deskthority has been talking about this, although it hasn't panned out.

I'd be interested in this, seems like something cool. But what I'd REALLY be interested in is a keyboard coffee table book. Something I can use to show people over at my place why I really love keyboards.

Oh wow that would be amazing! would need a wider community involvement though, as you would need a lot more material.

No doubt!  I went ahead and created one in a few hours digging around my pictures on VistaPrint.  I'm sure you can do the same thing with your calendar and let us see a preview of the end product too!

Nah, it's alright. It's just to get an idea of how much people are willing to pay with shipping to them.

Wow, that was stupid of me, being from the UK and all.

OK, so I've got 19 replies so far. I'm not sure how I'm going to proceed with this, but I will make final enquiries with the guys who make the calendars to see if they can do what I want and I will probably put an order in early January.

Would definitely be in for at least one.

The coffee table book idea would be epic, no clue how you'd get those made though.

LOVE the idea about the coffee book.  And I know how to do it.  It's pretty easy too.

Wedding photographers use companies like Asukabook (http://asukabook.com/product_formats.html) to print high-quality wedding albums.  Usually these are a small run, so the prices can be a bit steep (but no more than a nice book from a bookstore), but with a quantity run, these could be cheaper.  Plus, there's A LOT of printers in this space.

All we would need to do is get the layout for the book and of course the content and then we could publish it ourselves. :D

Exactly!  All we need to do is lay it out and make a group buy for it.  I can handle organizing the group buy logistics and distribution since I still have a commercial UPS account with discounted rates that we can all take advantage of.

As far as layout, it's not my strong point, but I can get all the media together in one place online since I have my own server.  I can also handle the rights clearance/licensing paperwork for us to publish the pictures.  But I think layout needs to be in the hands of someone much more talented than myself.

I'd love to see this project move forward.  Anyone want to step forward to form a team to work on this?

I'm more than willing to lend a hand, seeing as this Calendar is probably not going to go ahead. I could be an EU proxy as well if that's cheaper, although I don't think it will be if you get discounted rates.

But I am definitely up for helping in any way I can.

Why isn't the calendar happening?  Because my thinking is that 12 photos is a lot easier than a whole book of them. :(

I hadn't thought of the EU and other International logistics.  If using a proxy will be cheaper than drop-shipping, your help as a proxy will be fantastic.

I've started an official interest thread.  Let's see what happens.
