They finally made sliders with dampers (like dampened Alps and Matias Quiet Click). Nice. Hope they start to make Clears with these dampers and that they become widely available soon. Eliminates two mods of mine, so I only have to swap springs and add stickers.

I should be getting one this week. What exactly is different about the switches?

Groupbuy when?

I should be getting one this week. What exactly is different about the switches?

IIRC they added one component to the switches build to reduce noises.

Silencing without the reduced travel from O-rings, pretty cool.

Groupbuy when?

Probably never, if Corsair own the exclusivity or whatever.

Strafe RGB Silent or just Strafe? The normal strafe doesn't have the new silent switches. The OP left out a couple of important words... This looks to be another temporary exclusive like the RGB switches.

Oh, It could be the standard strafe then.

So basically Cherry being Cherry.

MX Silent - Built in dampeners have been around since 1995 in Alps SKCM White Damped switches.

RealKey - Pretty much a Sidewinder X6 with membranes ripped out and mechanical switches put back in their place.

Cherry RGB - Clear housings have been available for sale since I think 2006 and there were multiple Korean customs which used them for underswitch backlight(both RGB and not). Also, Matias made their switches with clear housings for a few years before Cherry RGB. Also let's not forget that Cherry made clear tops for Nixdorf before that(but I think the bottoms were still black).

I'm seriously curious when was the last time Cherry actually invented something. I'm guessing somewhere in the last century.

As for Corsair, they still make low quality form-over-function stuff that's also 3gamer5me so not even gonna bother considering and I recommend everyone else doing the same.

I have an MX board 6.0 that I just got today, and it sounds like it has the damping too. It's incredibly quiet for being mechanical.

Can you feel the difference when using on that new real key technology?

Essentially this. Although I have to say I haven't been gaming much today (and I just got it today) as I'm waiting on a new pair of headphones. I'll update with more experience tomorrow or the next day. Also, it could be due to the fact that I'm not used to linear switches at all.

I am interested in getting one of these to test it with other stems, but in the video the stem looks proprietary to the quiet switches

I'm curious how the GMK QMX clips will fare when compared to these. Honestly I have more hopes for the clips, because A) sure as heck not buying a Strafe, B) it's GMK. Cmon.

Yes, the damping is in the stem with these. The cases, springs, etc, are the same as "normal" ones. Hope they bring out dampened Clear stems.

It's kinda the salt in me talking since I pulled out an MX clear stem the other day, but I wish Cherry would just make the clear stems in line with other stems in terms of thickness. I can see no reason for clear stems to be so snug on the keycaps while other stems are reasonably sized.

And how much money is Corsair throwing at Cherry to get these exclusive contracts?

Looks like they reverted to the old sails logo as well. No more people complaining about "tramp stamps" and such.  ^-^

Cherry has a soundbite on their website of regular and silent reds and blacks.
http://www.cherry.de/cid/MX_Technology.htm?cpssessionid=SID-1420627A-01645243#/modules/mx-red-level

just click the silent after the regular and the top one to go back to regular or black.

No, the travel is reduced to about 3.7 mm on these.

Cherry RGB - Clear housings have been available for sale since I think 2006 [....]

I'm not buying a Strafe, so I'll have to be good with the QMX clips for my silencing needs until these are no longer exclusive. I would like to see other switches get the silencing treatment though.

what a lousy soundtest.. should've let someone type for 30+ seconds on an actual board that has the dampened switches.
and use a proper mic, rofl.

anyway.. if the dampeners work well, i hope the switches will some day get sold individually.
i don't really care to get some corsair board.

for me, a 60% or TKL with dampened black switches would be sweet as hell!
definitely curious.

They have a new patent on silent switches, why shouldn't it be considered an invention??

Cherry is like Harley motorcycles. They're riding the wave of old tech and content to do so as long as they are selling product and making money. Which is why I'm 100% Topre these days.

But I wouldn't consider myself a Topre fanboy. I'd jump ship and go back to Cherry...or any other switch for that matter...if they just made something better than Topre.

The topre patent is as old as the cherry one. It's from the eighties, and it's in the public domain.

Now cherry has a new, innovative patent, so it can be considered more innovative than topre.
