Desaturated images
« on: Sun, 23 August 2015, 10:44:02 »
Ok so I've been getting this more and more and it's pretty chuffing annoying, when I have some sick as **** picture and go to set it as my wallpaper (or even open it like I have in the pic below) it's lost all its pop and colour;

What the hell is the crack, and how can I get Windows to display the image as it appears in the thumbnail ?
Opening it in Photoshop gives me all the colours back, but regardless of how I re-save it Windows wont display the image with the same settings;

Looks like it's been saved with a different color profile. Go to Edit>Convert to Color Profile and check the 'Source Space'. If it's not standard sRGB then some image viewers will display the colors incorrectly.

I take all my camera photos in Adobe RGB and convert the color profile when saving a JPEG copy to avoid this.

Gamma metadata can also cause inconsistencies, but it's rarer to see it make a difference image viewers.
