Chicago represent!

I've gone through many hobbies and interests in my 20+ years of life, and I've never crossed one with so many members from Chicago as the keyboard community, specifically that at GH.

Now, there are probably many more keyboard enthusiasts in other places than Chicago (*cough* South Korea *cough*), but I notice the Windy City placed as many more users' hometowns than other forums I frequent.

Such a wonderful and cozy feeling!

But what do you all do to keep your keyboards in tiptop shape in this mercurial weather? From humidity to rigid cold, Chicago isn't exactly the best place climate-wise for expensive 'lectronics...

There is a crazy amount of GHers in the Chicagoland region. Hence why there's been like 3-4 meetups and Keycons there. Lovely place. I should move there.

Edit: Like iri, I keep my keyboards inside. Seems to work out just fine.

Humidity is definitely of huge concern here, but thank goodness I can switch between work and home!

At home it can get pretty humid in my office, which is on a third floor. I close it off during the day and, with the A/C off, it can get pretty stuffy. I have all kinds of valuables there, so as soon as I get home I open it to let the cool air in.

At work, where the only board I have is my Realforce, is perfectly air conditioned in the summer and comfortably heated in the winter. I really ought to move all my boards there...

I go to school in the UP, my boards thrive in bad weather. Last winter I walked to school on a day that was -12 before wind and my board was fine in it's hard carrying case from intelli.

I feel like I've crossed paths with a few hundred thousand folks. I just don't talk much because it's hard to tell people who love keyboards apart from people who will take a dump on your shoe on the EL. That being said, I have been on a few trains whilst carrying a Model M.

The hardest part for Chicagoans is preventing mustard from their hot dogs from getting on the keyboard.

Gotta have a DataVac on hand for loose poppyseeds from the buns!

Whoooaaa, I'm not a Minnesotan!  I just borrowed their education system for a few years.    I do own a Subaru (no kayak yet ), but it does not collect dust.    And if I had a kayak, that wouldn't collect dust either.  I'd probably go to Door County a whole bunch more.

I've never been to Chicago, which is kind of odd since I live pretty close. I typically keep my keyboards and electronics indoors, but if you do take a keyboard outside you could get a sleeve or something for it, or put it in a backpack or something like that.

Haha    I plead ignorance!  )  I don't know that many trolls (hehe) personally, but the ones I have met were all quite pleasant.  And you guys do have some nice cherries, so there's that.  I just have to favor da UP since they root for my Packers.    Hope you understand. 

How's the subaru in the snow? Of course you probably have actual snow tires to. 

Couldn't tell ya!  Just bought it in March.  I don't have snow tires yet, but it's on my radar.  Supposedly they're not as vital with the AWD and such, but I personally would still like to pick up a set.  We'll see.
