Hello World!
« on: Thu, 20 August 2015, 13:56:42 »
Hi, I am DohBot and I hope you will be seeing me around often as I am a Mechanical Keyboard Enthusiast and I am ready to join your ranks. I spend a lot of time on Reddit as /u/dohbot and I post a lot and read a lot there. Previously I considered joining Geekhack but the way the website was put together intimidated me so I just stuck with reddit. Well I say no longer. I will post and listen to and read and watch keyboard activity and read some build logs and try to make some of my own. I am a sloth enthusiast as well, so if you have any questions definitely shoot them my way!

Hope to see you around!

Welcome to Geekhack!

GH's layout is kinda traditional, and you should be able to get used to it fairly quickly :)

The reocmmended reading thread (actually it's only one post, and most of that is just links) is probably a good place to start reading - it will fill you in with a few shortcuts to finding information around here.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Changing site theme to lighter one makes it less scary and more readable. Also, what boards do you have?

That was the first thing that I did.

My boards are: Novatouch TKL with Granite set and 3 HKP Troopers and a Binge Jammin Slo-Fi (I am in an eternal quest to collect a lot of them but I don't have anything to trade but money but I will get them all  :)) ) and I will be putting the galaxy class keyset on it once I get it from the massdrop + custom sleeved and coiled Green and purple micro usb cable which I was hoping to put on a future board with a future keyset (probably a hyperfuse FC660M with zealios and a metal case but that is pretty expensive at the moment and I can't solder) but can't because very few boards use micro usb so ill just buy another (http://imgur.com/a/Q9H6v); IBM Model F PC AT USB modded and the previous owner changed the big ass enter key and the left shift (http://imgur.com/a/5qlal);  Poker 2 with a futurama themed keyset from WASD (horrible quality) that I basically blatantly ripped off from some guy on reddit (with his permission) and a tex aluminum case; HHKB type S with Blanks; Max keyboards blackbird with MX browns (album of the previous 3 plus my novatouch pre-granite: http://imgur.com/a/7KrS7); WASD Code with Clears (probably going to give this away to a friend sometime as I really disliked it); I also have a Keyboardio coming once it ships from kickstarter (Oh my, I didn't realize I had this many keyboards, my family must think I am really weird)

Oh wow, that's a mighty collection. I am pretty new to this whole keyboard deal, but I find myself modding and hacking my new board, so I think there is no way back now..

You should share your story about how you got into sloths (as you messaged me on Reddit), it's pretty cool  :D
