While I haven't used this, I have had space set as dual role as space and fn.  It worked as fn on hold but space on key up and not down.  I had tons of keystroke errors.  It was one thing I could not get used to.  Your mileage may vary of course.

Interesting. It may be related with the time frame setting for FN, maybe. The space bar for FN works very well for me, and it feels far better than been looking for a small FN switch key. It allows me to keep my hands in home row position most of the time.

Interesting, to be fair I prefer mapping capslock to FN and programming the keys from there
