Hello ~ Greetings from Italy
« on: Fri, 25 September 2015, 04:46:20 »
Hi Everyone, i`ve been using this site a little as non-registered user but time has come for me to pop my face here!
I apologise in advance for my rubbish english, sorry about that.
I bought a Steelseries 6Gv2 a few years ago as my first mechanical kb (Cherry MX Black switches) and I`m quite happy with it.

Looking forward to learn more about mechanical keyboards, and probably buying my next one soon.

Cheers,
Giacomo  ;D

Welcome to geekhack!

If you have stories about Italy's postal service, do share, I hear they aren't very good but maybe I am wrong. Things are mostly OK in the US but it can get ugly at times.

Welcome to Geekhack!

I can't see anything wrong with your English.  It's infinitely better than my Italian anyway :))

Steelseries a good solid keyboard, and MX blacks a nice switch :)

Which keyboard are you thinking of getting next?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Hey,i'm still uncertain about what to buy, probably a full sized or a TKL one with Cherry MX Brown or Blue switches.
Filco seems the most easy to obtain here in Italy since thekeyboardco ships them.
The alternative is amazon.co.uk (.de mostly ships ISO-DE layouts, but i need ANSI/ISO-UK/ISO-ITA), Amazon.it has almost nothing.
Long story short : I'd love to buy the perfect one but it doesn't exist, so I try to learn more and more while i pick one.

... Suggestions?  ;D

The Filco TKL has a lot of support and people have even made aluminum housing for them.  Well built and sleek.   Just my two cents.

Hint: if you get a TKL keyboard, you can get a separate numpad and have the best of both worlds.

Someone else was asking about Italian layout keyboards recently, can't find the thread atm, but I think it was another new member.  I've replied to too many of those threads to find it again quickly, while I'm trying to catch up :))

The Keyboard Company has some Italian layout Filcos listed:

Filco is a great solid keyboard, should last you for years.

Just placed my order on wasdkeyboards.com for my custom TKL V2, now i just need my friends to buy me beers for a few months and I'm ok!

Just offer to let them try your fancy new keyboard in exchange for a beer!
