Switch problem - Please help
« on: Mon, 05 October 2015, 20:07:40 »
I just received my KC60 with Gateron browns in the mail today. When I plugged it in for the first time, everything went crazy. I unplugged it, opened keyboard tester, and plugged it back in. The space bar immediately started registering repeatedly. I opened the switch up, and the contacts look mangled.

Besides soldering a new switch or waiting another 6 months for Massdrop to replace it, what can I do? Any advice is welcome.

You shouldn't have been able to just open the switch....that doesn't sound right.

The plate is cut so you can. I ended up just desoldering the switch and putting a Gateron clear in. Sucks since I haven't used it yet. I got stressed and made a thread and then couldn't wait for help. Haha.

Although it's possible you had a broken switch, it might have been covered under warranty.

Not any more though ;)

Yeah, I figured it would be, but I paid for it in June and I'm just receiving it now, so I wasn't going to wait for Massdrop to send me another one. I wanted to put a linear switch in the space eventually anyways, so I guess this gave me an excuse.  :)

Ah, Massdrop.

Say no more ;)
