Not sure if this should go here or in making things together but figured I would make a short build log of my RS60 board I built with help from the community!
WARNING: The pictures within this thread are of a horrific quality due to my camera being broken and my smartphone being my only camera.
I started off with wanting to just buy a Poker 2 to use but I only had the choice of ISO or ANSI and nothing in between. I really wanted to try an ANSI layout but can't get over the @ key being on the 2.
So I decided to go for something a bit more programmable.
Suddenly
flabbergast came to the rescue with a WTS thread including a RS60 PCB so I snapped this up as the start of the project, here are some pics of the top and bottom.
So next I needed some switches, my only previous mechanical keyboard is a Roccas Ryos which came with Cherry Blacks so I figured I would try out some Gateron blacks as they are meant to be smoother, this was soooo true and luckily
swill was nice enough to sell me 180 to play with! I started to solder the switches on and realized I still suck at soldering after years:
Plus an added attempt at a fancy shot...
Then came the case, I was running pretty low on funds but wanted to finish this board so I was lucky that
UKKeycaps was starting to open up his store and had nice cheap cases for sale.
The final pieces of the puzzle where some PCB stabs from
suicidal_orange (no pictures) and finally a Tai Hao Orange and Black set also from
UKKeycaps.
The board is programmed through TMK and thanks to a few guys on the IRC I managed to get it up and running and have been using it for about a month!
Not sure if it is finished as I have some SIP sockets to solder on and then play with different LEDs from
sethk_'s LED group buy when it finishes.
I am aware this was long and not a very good build log but I just wanted to say a massive
