Classic Cherry MX Keyboard?
« on: Sat, 21 November 2015, 04:01:34 »
Are there any classic cherry boards, like the dolch, g80s things like that, that come with the green switch? Im trying to make my setup more fallout-y, so Id like to get a classic looking board That has mx greens in them. Put some nice classic looking dsa capa on there and call it a day. Problem is I cant seem to find any classic boards that fit the bill!

Any info is appreciated!

MX Green was used only for spacebars. MX White might be an option, but quite rare.

However, considering that many of the relevant keyboards have PCB-mounted switches, you can simply do a spring swap to get greens from blues. But keep in mind that vintage MX Blue switches had a bit different stems, which resulted in slightly different feedback.

Get a Quickfire Rapid that has MX Greens (I had the Stealth), then hydro-dip or paint the case to make it Fallout themed.  :thumb:

Yeaj I actually have a QFR right now thats been my daily driver for the past few years, Im toying with just getting an old all in one computer like the TI99/4A that has been coverted into a usb keyboard. I know it probably has linears but it basically already had vintage dsa style caps. i think it fits the fallout theme pretty well. Although Id love to have a Tandy TRS80 keyboard thats been modified to Usb because those  thick metal things seriously strike me as vintage military surplus/fallout looking stuff. Havent seen one modded yet though.

In the meantime I may play around with painting my QFR if I can get ahold of some retro looking caps, thanks for the tip!
