what keyboard should i get myself for christmas??

i'm splurging on an Endgame Keyboard for christmas this year and i'm not sure what to get, should i just order a HHKB and get it over with?
i'm looking for a nice 60% and i'd have a lot of trouble going back to a TKL/full size board and the HHKB looks like it would fit the bill but i'm worried about adapting to the layout since the ctrl placement weirds me out and I play a lot of FPS games.

even though I am used to ctrl being in the caps lock position, I still use ctrl in the usual position for FPS games.

If you are looking for a premium 60% board you may want to consider a Duck Eagle or a GON. There a quite a few.

Can't go wrong with the HHKB. It's always daunting to try and adjust to a new layout but you'll get used to it by the end of the day.

Why do people prefer Type-S? Because it's more expensive? Does it offer anything else besides reduced noise?
I have a Realforce at work and am not bothered by the sound. In fact, I really like it. Will I be fine with a regular HHKB or do I have to spend the additional $100 before considering myself truly 1337?

People like it because it's silenced without any travel reduction. With the Type-S PFU also refined the build quality a tiny bit. If you don't mind the sound just pick up a regular HHKB, you can always silence it later if you really want to - albeit it won't be as perfect as the Type-S, but it'll be pretty darn close.

I have no idea. I don't have ***** ears so the sound doesn't bother me.

The mods available only silence the upstroke which imo is the only problem with the sound. On the downstroke you get a nice thock which is what people love about the board, up on the upstroke the plastics collide and make a clicking sound. Silencing puts a soft material between each stem and the housing to mitigate the click sound so you're only left with thock bliss.

Re-watching a couple of videos of the Pro 2 vs. Type-S, I see now what you mean. I realize the Realforce has that clack too, and has never bothered me, but I may try to get the Type-S if I can get the extra funds.

It's Christmas! So you should treat yourself to the best keyboard! Only you can decide what that is.

A poker 3 will allow you to customize the layout into anything  you like.  If you don't like the ctrl placement, simply move it.

it appears the OP is looking for confirmation on her preference towards an already made decision, I can help:

Get a HHKB, it is the best one and only dream, end-game keyboard you may get, ever; also, if you are not able to adjust to its layout, you should not be considered a keyboard aficionado at all, because every serious keyboard aficionado should be able to type on a HHKB, with no complaints. You should not complain on its price, either, who the hell you think you are to complain about the more than fair price of such a marvel.
