Here I am!!!

Not really sure what to say, so I'll ramble for a bit and then hit the post button!

Not sure how I stumbled into mechanical keyboards, but after using exclusively mac keyboards for the past 10 years or so, I knew I wanted to ditch the thin keyboard life for the clicky/clacky life. So I save my pennies and ordered up myself a Kul Es-87 with blues for use at work. It's everything I had ever hoped for and it makes typing that much more enjoyable.

Speaking of work, it's interesting you should ask. I work for a plastic company. Flat stock stuff mostly, so acrylic, polycarbonate, etc. We also do a fair amount of print work. But we have 5 CNC machines, 2 lasers and a metric ton of experience. So as I start to learn more about this crazy world of keyboards, I want to somehow bring my work to the table in the means of acrylic cases and possible CNC'd key caps.

I've got a million things going on in my life, but I'm excited to try and make some slow progress on this and maybe bring something worthy to geekhack :)

Welcome to Geekhack!

I also went from an Apple aluminium keyboard to MX blues, albeit in a Ducky Shine.

I quite liked the Apple keyboard, and even went as far as to get one to use at work on the Windows PC there.

I had cause to revert back to the Apple keyboard at home recently (reinstalling the OS and I wanted to be 100% sure that I could hit certain key combinations during bootup, and didn't know whether a PC layout keyboard would have the keys remapped at boot time or not - probably not).  I found that I really disliked the scissor switches.

The promise of new cases is a welcome one :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
