So one of the keys is starting to go bad on my Das. Cracked it open (literally, stupid plastic tabs
) to see what it would take to replace the faulty switch. Just your standard desolder/solder job, no surprises there.
Though while I was poking around, I couldn't help but notice the controller connected to the matrix via a 26-pin ribbon cable. And better yet, it was simply pressure fit onto the header, almost begging to be replaced.
It's a small (4cm x 9cm) board with 2 connectors, so it should be fairly easy and cheap to design and fab a new board. I've got some custom firmware on my Ergodox that I'd could adapt for the Das. While I'm at it, I could also throw on USB 3.0 hub for better speeds.
Posting here to see if anyone has already made a custom board, because it looks so hackable. Don't want to redo work if it's already been done. Searched around a bit, but didn't find anything.
