Where can I get Topre switches to build my own keyboard?
« on: Tue, 19 January 2016, 03:32:02 »
Hi, is it possible to get single Topre switches to build own keyboards? If yes, where can I get them?
I love the Neo 2 Layout and splitted matrix keyboards. Never want to go back

this is unfortunately not possible because topre switches are not discrete units.

There is another problem: a Topre switch is basically a variable capacitor. Making a long story short: you have to use a PCB for it to work.

There is a thread on Deskthority where a guy is building a custom Topre keyboard, if you are interested: https://deskthority.net/workshop-f7/designing-a-custom-topre-board-t11734.html

Well, I know that the PCB is part of the switch. But it should be possible to get the components and the know how to build Topre keyboards

You currently have to buy Topre boards and disassemble them.

Did I? Oh. Well, I could say, I don't want a staggered, unsplitted keyboard at all. Is that better?  ;D
