That "technique" Kishy, can also mean getting stuck with an overbid too. I'm sure you very well know this as a risk. I'm just saying this out loud in case some not too bright person stumbles across your comment and thinks he's found the secret to beating the system and becoming king of eBay.
If you're using "techniques" to screw over your competitor or come away with an amazing win... call it what it is... gambling. You win some. You lose some, but the house almost always wins in the end.
