Anyone drive a Dodge Magnum
« on: Thu, 18 February 2016, 19:42:50 »
Looking for opinions on longer term reliability.  I currently drive an 03 Buick Park Avenue, but want a little more room but am not willing to step up to a truck, SUV, van, minivan, or typical crossovers.  I just need room for the car seats, one buckles in, the other is just a booster, with my pair of 4 drawer Craftsman toolboxes, two wheel dolly, fall protection harness and I routinely drive an hour each way for work.  A 5 day work week is close to 600 miles, so I am leaning toward the 3.5 V6 engine.  I also typically drive cars to the 200,000 mile mark or beyond.  I drove my last Buick to 225k, and my current one has 172k.  I understand I will lose a bit of mileage, but I can deal with that.

I do a fair bit of my own work on cars, so long as I can troubleshoot the correct part.

Mostly wondering about long term common issues, general ride quality, creature comforts, and winter snow and ice capabilities.  I am aware of the common leaking transmission, but the majority of reporst I have read on this, it is fixed for good around the 30k to 50k mark.

Thought, comments, suggestions?

I want to like the doge magnum and considered getting one at one point but the few people I've known personally who have owned one seemed to have them in the shop a lot.

Would you happen to know how many miles were on it when he had the car?

One of my co-workers back in 2006-2007 bought a new one and had so many issues she sold the car.

The others I'm honestly not sure but I know they were used and a few years old when they bought them but they still own the cars today. I know they've had issues although I do not know specifically what the issues were.

Yeah, it seems from the research I have done, that they seem to have a rash of issues around the 30k-50k mile mark and then are great cars, but I am not finding anything post 90k ish.
