Looking for someone to fix my Ergodox
« on: Sun, 06 December 2015, 16:58:12 »
Greetings. So last year I built my own Ergodox. I love everything about it, but despite replacing the PCBs and a few other things, I seem to have issues on a daily basis. I'm hoping to find someone who could figure out the problem, as I can't seem to figure it out on my own.

I'm looking for someone who could figure out the problem and fix it for me. I've already invested A LOT of money into this keyboard and I just want it to work... I use it at my work (software engineer).

As for the actual issue(s), it's fairly irregular. Sometimes it will only happen once a day. Other times it might have every two minutes or so. It's extremely frustrating. The keyboard will suddenly stop responding and I get a Windows alert saying "USB is not recognized". Sometimes this is proceeded by one of the keys not firing the "release", causing the key to act like it's being held down. Sometimes I can hit some keys a few times and keep it from becoming unresponsive.

Like I said, I've replaced the PCBs due to an issue with my first build. I didn't have the best of luck with the USB port either and replaced it. Today I tried adding the LEDs, as I didn't add them before and figured that might be the issue. That didn't seem to help and the LEDs don't even seem to light up.

If you also have ideas on what might be wrong, I might try those as well. But honestly I'm just reading to pay someone to get it working for me. Thanks!

One important fact missing - where in the world are you?  You probably don't want to invest yet more money in international shipping, especially at this time of year :))

There are lots of great people in the US for keyboard services. I can believe Sifo is open for business again, and I also heard that E3E is doing some commission stuff I think.

pictures! take lots and lots of high res pictures of the solder work (whatever you can). Otherwise we're just guessing.

This sounds awefully like a crashing firmware... you may want to debug the microcontroller.
