Possibility of sleeving this cable
« on: Thu, 31 March 2016, 09:21:25 »
Hi!

I've had this cord lying around for a while now and with the keyboard parts arriving I thought it'd be nice to sleeve one of my USB cables with it. I have three possible cables for that:imgur

My main concern is taking apart the connector itself since the cable won't fit over it. Are there any guides on how to do this? There are a lot of guides on how to use custom cable sleeve kits etc. but they all come with the connectors in parts, which then have to be assembled. Would it be possible to disasseble/reassemble the connectors? Maybe it's better to just cut the wire somewhere (on the regular USB connector end preferably, I think) and then put a lot of sleeving over it and resolder the joints. That way the sleeving won't stretch along the entire cord but that's fine, I just want that green cord on my desk and I don't really mind the cable not being perfectly sleeved when the other end is behind my desk anyway.

Which one of the three would be best for this job?

Thanks for your time.
