I dun goofed. Pls ignore
« on: Wed, 22 June 2016, 00:49:52 »
Hello, I don't know if this is the place for this, but I need some help. I just shipped something out today to someone in the same state. Shipping should only take a day which is what is worrying me. Since I've shipped first the other user has not made contact with me and though he was online and posting has not responded to any of my messages. He has been around for awhile and though I should not be worried what I shipped out means a lot to me. I doubt there is much to do but I wanted to know what my options are since he hasn't responded to any of my messages and I fear it may already be too late to intercept the package. Possibly he didn't see any of the messages? I'm short on time because of the whole 1 day shipping thing and I'm sort of freaking out.

Leaving this cause I must accept the shame  :(

There is nothing you can do at the moment but wait for the person to reply to you

to add a layer of protection to trades you should paypal transfer about $200 or the value of what you are trading. When someone doesn't fall through you can charge back on them.

I'd give it some time, maybe a few more days to a week before even thinking of doing anything. If they still ignore after a week I would consider naming the person publicly especially if they are still active around the site. Thing with naming publicly is this is kinda a last ditch thing to do and it isn't fun for anyone.

If they are a more active, established member I would definitely give them the benefit of the doubt, things happen, some people just absolutely suck at communication and aren't as courteous as others.

Thanks a lot for the help, although I do understand that communication isn't everyone's strong suit, you would still expect some sort of courtesy or acknowledgement that they understand the situation. Also what worries me is that at first he said he wanted me to ship first because I was newer to the community. Once he finally responded he tried saying that he wanted to ship first. After I called him out on it, he stopped replying even though he is still online and posting photos. It's painting a horrible picture :/ normally I'd give the benefit of the doubt but what I sent means quite a bit to me and the uncertainty is killing me.

Sometimes I will be online looking through threads etc but will wait until I get home before responding/reading PMs so I can put max effort in.

I wouldn't go spaz after a day, that is what clingy boyfriends do.

We are located in the same state. The package delivers next day which gives me very little time to intercept a package from USPS and once it's delivered or past the point of no return I have no options left but to hope I get contacted. Most likely not used to the whole lack of communication since I've only run into people who have been super good about it since I've started this hobby. It just so happens that now that I have something kind of cool that I like a lot where the other user isn't communicating much or letting me know what's going on. Obviously overreacted but this is the one thing I've ever traded that I'm really not prepared to lose out on.

Person might not see the need to reply until they have sent your package, I have done trades with people like that here. You have their address and live in the same state, if something goes wrong you are in a much better position than the bulk majority of people trading from different countries. I dont know the distance between you guys but if someone ripped me off I would go to their house. Mind you you may not be old enough to drive etc.

In my experience, some people will avoid contact until they've actually shipped the stuff, that way the next reply will be tracking. Instead of "sorry m8 I'll send it out in the morning."

One day is way too early to get suspicious IMO. You said it's an established member. Do you think they would ruin their reputation over a cap?

All my trades have been done through Reddit so far. I guess it works differently here and since this is my first trade on here, the process to the trade and the communication works differently as well? I wouldn't have reacted how I did if it was something I didn't appreciate so much. Downsized much of what I had to get this as funds are limited and all that. I was unhappy at the thought of losing it and overreacted which I should apologize for. I still feel uneasy though and would just be much happier with this passing. I don't like wasting anyone's time but I would risk looking like an idiot over losing this any day.

So post is about me  :'(
I was pretty busy today

but was entirely unaware that dranzer was expecting a response from me, our last messages before this post were:

Ok box is ready to go. Not my address because I'm shipping skidata right now. Do you mind shipping first?  Not that I don't trust you,  but there are many new users. If you need references on my past trades please let me know.

Yes of course! No worries I understand, that's how it should work anyways :) you've been around longer so you have more reliability. I'll get it shipped out right now actually, works out perfectly because I was going to pick something up anyways. I'll get you tracking in just a bit, thanks again!

(INSERT TRACKING NUMBER)

There you go! Thanks again!

followed by several aggressive messages 10 hours later asking why I hadn't responded =/

I think we have worked it out tho.

Honestly I think it may be a Reddit thing. Some guy threatened to call me out publically last week because I hadn't sent tracking 20 hours after he sent the money. Except I had sent tracking and somehow he just overlooked the message.

Made the assumption he was shipping out the same day I was. Already knew that shipping is one day when we're that close. After sending my tracking number and him telling my package was ready to go and he was shipping stuff out, was hoping to at least get a notice. Again, it's a Reddit thing which is where I first started so idk.

Didn't you get banned from mechmarket because of a whole price policing thing and just flat out being rude to people? I mean can you blame that guy for thinking less of your integrity when he sees you posting on people's stuff rude comments?

Of course I expected to ship first. Just didn't think he was waiting to receive it first as I've never had anyone ask of that and he never mentioned it that way. In fact he didn't mention much besides saying that he had it packaged and wanted me to ship first and then then the next message saying "I meant I was going to ship first" which confused me. Seemed as though he was changing his story but what he really meant was that he was waiting to recieve first before shipping out.

Aggressive? I don't recall saying anything aggressive. I just mentioned that I was worried about the lack of any confirmation and even apologized because I overreacted. Really just wanted some sort of confirmation or even a a quick response I guess since you were posting throughout the day and we're still online and posting when I messaged you. Again, I overreacted expecting the confirmation or clarification but don't say I was aggressive to turn people on me :/ of course maybe I sounded like I was but I don't save any of my sent so if they did sound aggressive I apologize. They were more worried than anything.

It's alright man! We all have misunderstandings! It's easy to jump to conclusions; especially when money is involved. Looks like everyone's getting their caps, which is what really matters.

The third step is locking the thread.

ITT: bunch of physically weak virgin manlets showing their inferiority complex

Don't worry OP, you overreacted a bit, but its all cool. Everyone here acts tough but I guarantee you that they're a joke if you met them in real life. They're just taking it out on you...
lmao

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
