Problems with FaceW-Sprit-Edition-PCB
« on: Sat, 21 May 2016, 08:49:53 »
Hello there,
I am tying to set up the FaceW-Sprit-Edition-PCB.

Because this board is able to deal with ISO, I want to build my 60% in German ISO.
I read through most of the How-To here (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=58945.0) but I don't really have a clue how to do it.

The problem is that there are no German ISO keycodes to define, it's all ANSI. Am I doing something wrong?

(Maybe someone can even provide me a German ISO hex-file...)

The keycodes a keyboard sends are actually the same worldwide, it's up to your operating system to convert them into the correct character for your language of choice.

In your picture the extra ISO keys (next to left shift and enter) are assigned to Europe keycodes, so flash that and as long as you tell your computer the keyboard is German it will be :)

Sorry, but what to flash? It seems that Europe 1 and 2 are already assigned in the keymap. So I have to flash that keymap-file?

Sorry to say I've never used a Sprit board so I've just had a look at the guide - wow, it's long!

From your screenshot it looks like you got to step 9?  If so you can tweak the layout (steps 10 and 11) and save a new .hex file (12 and 13), or if you're happy with how it is you can skip to the next post and flash the default .hex you opened in step 8.

I wouldn't be surprised if it came with that default layout already flashed so it will work without having to go through all that - have you tried it?

Hey there, I stopped my work on my new build. So I am not able to test it because I now can disassemble what I've done so far.
The SentrantPC-Universal-Plates are NOT compatible to ISO. That's a ****ing joke!  I'm really mad now...

Yes, ANSI and ISO Enter is not the problem, that works as intended.
It's the switch-hole for above the Alt-Key, the special "Europe"-key.

4 hours of pecise working and now I cannot finish my build. Man, I am pissed  >:D :'(
I don't have a Dremel. I thought about using a knife, but I think I'd just destroy the plate.

Maybe I have to buy another one...
