Hola From Florida
« on: Tue, 31 May 2016, 11:13:55 »
Hello Experts,

I just bought my very first Mechanical keyboard KBC Pok3r 3 Black Case ABS Dual Coating keycaps Cherry Mx-Clear - white with Backlight (my cube mate told me to do it!!).  I am in the process of upgrading the LED Covers as well as the WASD  keys to silver keyset Zinc.  I have had the keyboard for about 2 days and so far am very happy with this purchase.  I have not  done any programming to the keys as of yet since I am so new.  However, I have great plans to do some custom changes to this new keyboard so wish me luck!

Thanks

The Biopsy!!

Welcome to GeekHack!

What sort of great plans did you have in mind? Try not to sink all your money in one place.  :))

Best of luck!

Well thank you fellow Floridian!  I was thinking about program changes to the keyboard like, 1st moving the Windows key and the FN key to each other as a swap.  I use arrow keys more than expected so I need to look up the dip switches and the facts on how to do this. Yes, you are correct "NO MORE FUNDS $$$" into this project, well not until dad's day!!!!!! (Hope the kids gets lots of chores done to by dear old dad the gear he needs!)

Thanks,

Biopsy

Florida! Wooo. Welcome ;D

Zinc sets are really expensive when you compare them to a nice and durable set of PBT keycaps imo

At least give these backlit PBT keycaps a look Mechanicalkeyboards.com - 104 Key PBT Double Shot Keycap Set - Black Translucent (Vortex)

Welcome to Geekhack!

Nice keyboard - Pok3r is the first keyboard for many people, and I don't think I've heard anything bad about it.

MX clears - what prompted you to go for those switches for your first mechanical keyboard?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
