Who's annoyed by people who say "cap locks"?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

WHY DO KEYBOARDS STILL HAVE THIS KEY THAT SWITCHES ITSELF ON AND MAKES THINGS LOUD?

WHO ACTUALLY USES THE CAPS LOCK KEY AS A CAPS LOCK?

Smart people use the Shift key as a kind of caps lock, by making it sticky with a double-tap. Allows better use of that key on the home row, by turning it into a Tab, for example.
How do you do that? I use caps lock for comedic effect.

Never experienced this, thankfully. I'd probably punch them in the throat.

I reprogrammed my keyboard firmware, but most OSes have a sticky modifiers setting, I was told.

Who's annoyed by people who say "cap locks"?

But.... many companies - especially oil companies and refineries - use cap locks.  They are padlocks that hold pipe caps in place with a hasp so that vandals and thieves can't unscrew them without first using a hacksaw on the hasp or lock.  On hearing someone say cap locks, I'd ask why they were using such a specific, specialized piece of oilfield equipment, rather than assuming it had anything to do with typing.

We're going to solve strong AI.  Then it's going to solve us.

Some cars/trucks/motorcycles have those too. So, they have a name! Neat

I also remapped it to Backspace.
Best thing I've ever done, in terms of custom layouts. Is it a lot more efficient.

As a bonus, it allows for a useful keybind in games. I could never really bind Caps Lock to anything, because I'd have to untoggle it, if I ever wanted to type chat. Now that it's mapped as Backspace, I don't run into any odd issues with using that key.
