GH60 dead spacebar key
« on: Mon, 16 May 2016, 19:47:17 »
Hello, I have a GH60 rev. CHN that has a spacebar that doesn't seem to register when clicked. I bought it used from /r/mechmarket
I tried all 3 spots on the pcb and they all don't work.
At first i thought it was the switch. So i replaced it, still no dice.
Then i tried flashing it with the stock firmware (gh60-revchn.hex) using tkg-toolkit. but the problem still exist after flashing it successfully.
I've also tried registering a click by touching the solder points with a tweezer. It worked for any other key except the spacebar.

Is there a way to jump it? Thanks in advance

Your diode might have poo'd the bed. Check the solder on that if not you can follow the trace and jump from where you want. You should get a multimeter with a continuity check to see if there are any break in the traces.

FWIW I have two of those boards and my first one the USB connector lifted off the pads when I put it in a case so I do not think the quality is that great so you could have lifting pads. Also check every solder point I often mis-soldering one or two points and have a dead key here or there.

To test the diode touch the tweezers between the lower right switch pin and the right side of the diode to bypass it.

If that works you need a new diode - if you use ANSI and are good at soldering there's one on the key next to left shift you can steal, or if you have a big standard backspace there's one on the top right key...

If it doesn't work the right side of that diode should be connected to the non stripe end of the diodes on V and G, so run a thin wire to one of them and you should be good :)

If you are using TKG, perhaps you have forgot to fill the word 'space' into the label of spacebar key.

This answer helped me so much... I was afraid my board has serious issues until I went to my layout editor. Ty!
