Elitekeyboards?? Where are those guys???
« on: Wed, 06 July 2016, 02:45:53 »
Sorry if this is the wrong forum but is elitekeyboards out of business or something?  They haven't updated the site in a long time.  Just as an example 104UB's black are out stock with an estimated restock date of may and the whites June 13.  I fired off an email asking about this a good 3 or 4 weeks ago and still haven't gotten a response.  I'm thinking about picking up a second HHKB (digging the white lettered) but if they are defunct I'd rather not send them $200.  Anyone know the situation here?

Have you tried calling them? I placed a phone order with them last Friday & the order shipped the same day. I'm not aware of any "situation".

huh weird.

Wonder why the website hasn't been updated in so long.  I could call but it would be nice to get that info off their site.

Put in an order the other day. Shipped next day. Should arrive today.

They're still around.
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

Someone else recently received a RealForce keyboard from EK.  Another post in keyboard section somewhere.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I feel like I've heard EK hasn't been responding to emails for a couple months now. That said, I purchased a keyboard from them on ebay and I received within a couple days.

Weird I don't see any of their listings on Amazon; maybe they're too busy to update the website

I visited the shop a few days ago (and left with my first HHKB), he's definitely still active.
I think his ETA's are just very aggressive/entirely best case scenario. I know that mechlube should arrive next week, but if a order from a OEM does not arrive on time I personally can understand that he does not Update the ETA's that frequently. It sure would be better to update those more frequently, but in some cases it just takes longer than expected and it just can't be said until the bulk arrives.
