Hey everyone!! :) I wanted to join a community since I recently like just a few hours ago bought my first build-able PC. Yeah turning 24 and never owned a computer lol I have been around friends computers and played cs1.6, CSS, CSGO and so forth. I have been exclusively a console gamer but I have been wanting more and I finally caved and I am starting the process on building my own PC. I bought this PC relatively cheap just to try out stuff and to get the hang of things. I wanted to hear your guys thoughts on this PC and whether or not I got a good deal with my price.

Antec black case with earthwatts 500w PSU
Asus socket am2+ mobo
AMD 6000+ 3ghz CPU
MSI R7770 1GB video card
Raptor 150GB 10k HD
Wester Digital 150GB HD
6GB RAM
22" Acer LCD screen
Microsoft black edge keyboard
Windows 7 which I will upgrade to Windows 10

All for that I got for $225, for an entry lvl PC I feel like it is okay but obviously i could of spent a few more hundies on something better but like I said I wanted something cheap I could build upon.

Any suggestions?? Thanks!!

What, no mechanical keyboard? :p

To me the specs seem fine, if a little dated, but then I'm so far out of touch it's not funny.  And my last PC was a Mac, so I'm probably not qualified to advise :))

Used 10k HDD or new? Used PC parts freak me out a little. I'm on a box from 2011 that I bought used; it serves me well but I wouldn't buy used PC parts again. Looks like a good deal afaik

Haha I will eventually be upgrading to a different keyboard. Its weird having a keyboard that isn't flat. From what I understand these are older parts but was top of the line when they came out. Which I'm beginning to understand in PC terms that means nothing lol but thanks!

Yeah it's a used 10k HDD. Everything on this PC is used and it's what I want to start for the base of my new build. Not as fast as I thought it will be but I'm assuming it's the processor that's holding me back. Being only a dual processor. I saw a phenom black ii quad core 3.7ghz for only $50 on Amazon that I will grab! I'm glad to hear that 5 years later it's still working strong! Have you had to do much upgrading?

I applied some better thermal paste to the Southbridge/Northbridge/CPU/GPU. I reapply every year or so, but that was it. Seems like all 64bit programs take full advantage of 4+ core CPUs these days, it's tough out there for a dual core ;)

Are you trying to hit a specific price-point with the build or match specs to play any particular game? Or just working within a budget to build something workable.

For the price I'd say you did pretty well...hitting the sub $300 price point can be tough.

Also you've got less than two weeks to get that Windows 7 upgraded to Windows 10, FYI.
