Just dropping in to say Hi
« on: Mon, 01 August 2016, 03:05:00 »
Been lurking this site for ages, post semi-frequently on r/MechanicalKeyboards/.

Just love mechs and PC tech / culture in general. My first mech was a few years ago, a Ducky Shine 3. This past week I also built a Planck (from Massdrop) and a JD40 kit from 1upkeyboards.

Welcome to the forum!

The Ducky Shine III was my first keyboard as well - I still like to use it from time to time  :)

Welcome! JD40 just showed up @ mechanicalkeyboards.com. Too few keys for me but I love the design.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Was the Shine 3 a few years ago?  Yikes!  I didn't know I'd had mine for that long.

Then there are the two Ducky Shine version 1 keyboards that I have.  I've been doing this far too long :))

What switches have you got in your keyboards?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
