Hi
« on: Tue, 02 August 2016, 15:10:23 »
Hi I'm Ryan,
After finding the mechanicalkeyboards subreddit I lurked there for about 9 months. I had heard of mechanical keyboards but only in a gaming context and didn't really think anything of them. Now I have my own 60% with MX Browns (KBP V60 Mini Dolch) and I'm loving it. On my old tatty Dell membrane I typed at 70WPM but I have reached 80WPM on my new MK after just 1 week. I dread going back to school and having to type on a membrane. I'm thinking of changing the case of this keyboard as it is plastic and maybe getting a red escape key or red WASD keys to match the colour scheme of my computer.

Thx for being an awesome community.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Elite Keyboards have authentic Cherry WASD and Esc, can't get much better than those :)

Back in the day red Cherry Esc keys sold for $250.  That was before we found out Cherry was still making them.  True story.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thanks for the welcomes, definitely thinking about getting those red WASD keys and the ESC key. But I think I'll try to find ones that have the exact same font as the rest of the keys on my keyboard.

Has the KBP V60 Mini got the standard keycaps?  With the small centred legends towards the space bar side of the keyboard?  Not sure you'll find any custom keycaps with exactly that font on them.

Or when you say Dolch too, have you got one of the Dolch sets on it?  In that case you might fare better (depending on which Dolch set you have).
