Datamancer's keyboards - I haven't heard anyone have it.

It looks classy in steampunk style. However, probably can't type so well on it.
But similar products actually sold quite a few on TaoBao and its from 'overseas':

With the previous Steampunk MagicForce keyboard MassDrop, we know now everyone can have something similar for cheap. I'm planning to have a 60% with these caps, like this:

Wishlist: 1) nice thick Alps caps; 2) Cherry profile POM;
More
Wishful-list: 1) We order from keyboard-layout-editor.com; 2) usable Trackpoint module for all keyboards
IBM M13 black
NeXT non-ADB keyboard (AAE)
HHKB Pro 2 HasuBT
[~90WPM, in love with Emacs, and Lisp]

I have my own "steampunk-esque" project in mind, but the thing that I  *will not*  do is to replace the keys.

Using epoxy and typewriter keys looks funky but surely ruins the experience.

We were all saddened when Datamancer took his own life a couple of years ago, he was a true artist.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Didn't know that. Then someone has got to operate behind the stores and drops.
His steampunk works are classic for this style of mod. Hope he can rest in peace.

The MagicForce keycaps aren't steampunk in my view, they are merely "Typewriter style". Hate to say it, but typewriters aren't steampunk. They are merely obsolete, relegated to the category of nostalgia-tech.

I also had no idea that the dude behind the original Datamancer boards committed suicide. It explains why there have been no new designs in a long time. Such a shame too, because he did exquisite work.

I didn't know about that, that's horrible! What happened?

Sad. Yes.

Fortunate for us, the people who bought his designs are keeping them alive, as well as developing other nice products for the keyboard community.

They have hosted two keyboard  MK meetups this year. It was nice to see their operation.

I pin the lack of enthusiasm on the ergonomic shortcomings and enormous price tag.

If I'm gonna drop $700 on a keyboard, it better be one that I like using.
