New Guy - Working on my first custom board!
« on: Mon, 17 October 2016, 20:33:24 »
Hey GH!

Today, I feel like I'm joining the community for real.

I just received my PCB from hasu for my AEK Alps64 build!

Also looking for tips and advice. This will not only be my first keyboard, but also my first real soldering project! (Wish me luck!)

I'm local to Las Vegas, and it would be awesome to meet other MK enthusiasts out here as well.

Anyway, see you all around!

hey! I'm new too geekhack too and originally from Reno, so it's good to see a fellow Nevadan here ;)

How exciting that you're about to get started soldering your first PCB.  I'm a nub too, otherwise I'd try to give you advice.

How was the name Hybrid still available? Nice get.

The most important thing with soldering is not inhaling the fumes. Keyboards are replaceable, lungs are not (yet).
I typed this post on my Slanck. I also developed a stronger, cleaner, easier handwiring method.

This is good advice for anyone manufacturing keyboard stuff. Safety first!

Hybrid,
Welcome to GH. Good luck with the soldering. Let us know how it goes. I'd love to build a board myself one day... if there parts didn't cost twice the amount of a completed board*sigh*
