Is there such thing as a 2.75u spacebar?
« on: Mon, 31 October 2016, 07:35:36 »
Does anyone know of any 2.75u spacebars (actually contoured like a spacebar, with a convex surface)?  I have a custom layout that I designed, and I'm about to order the plate on Lasergist, but I'm debating whether or not I should use a 2.75u space, or a 3u space.

I discovered a PBT 3u spacebar on Aliexpress, manufactured by NPKC for their Filco Minila keysets, and it has a convex surface like a spacebar.  I think I'm going to go that route, unless anyone knows of any easily sourceable 2.75u spacebars.

The reason I'm wanting to avoid the 3u space, is because I can't find any info about the type of stabilizer it supports.  I could assume its a 2u stab, but I'd be pretty upset if it turned out to be some proprietary stab, or if the key had some kind of silly offset mount.

Those aren't spacebar profiles though, just 2.75u keys (blank right-shift keys, essentially).  I'm looking for a key with a convex surface:  https://ultimatehackingkeyboard.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/injection-molded-mod-backspace-2-640x480.jpg

Do you have a link for the one you just found at Ali? I may need some in case I jump into the split space bar upcoming group buy.

I contacted the seller, and he's agreed to sell me a specific selection of keys too.  He has some uncommon keycaps, like a Row-2 1.25, 1.5, and 1.75 keys (non-standard row numbering, so Row-2 is the middle row with Capslock and Enter)

I didn't realize the "spacebars" from SP are just the shift molds.

I don't think SP intends to imply it is a "spacebar" by using the word space.  I think they just mean that it uses 2.75 "spaces" of space.
