SOTC informal review
« on: Tue, 01 November 2016, 08:56:12 »
Collection as of 1 1/2 months into the game:

  • Poker 2 w MX Clears
  • Vortex PBT Doubleshots with a rogue Poker PBT Enter (came with the board)
  • SA Modern Selectric
  • Random Maplin wire since no wire came with the board

Poker 2 vs Scissors switches:

  • Heavier - I quite like the rubber dome's weight. Thinking about doing ergo-clears
  • Further travel
  • Tactile feedback on accentuation

Poker 2 x Clears:

  • Plastic case, put some padding inside to mute it more
  • Tactile bump is big, so I don't bottom out often
  • Loss of dedicated arrows keys not a big deal
  • Damn solid piece of keeb cake
  • I still don't get the Pn key... halp
  • The backspace is a pain in the ass to press so many times (rip typing)
  • Pings sometimes

Vortex PBT DS + MX Clears:

  • Snappy and fast - clack!
  • FeelsGoodMan - the matte/grainy texture feels great on the (sweaty) fingers
  • Dodgy POM shine-through - not the same as your normal gaymer caps, these looks weird in low light
  • Profile is nice, really like how the keys are shaped - probably time to get GMK?

SA ABS DS Modern Selectric + MX Clears:

  • FeelsLessGoodMan - the tactility is reduced, somehow makes it feel really different. I imagine it'd feel better on linears
  • Sounds different from the Vortex, a deeper sound, a cloock sound not a clack
  • High profile, quite a bit higher than Vortex (OEM)
  • The smooth surface means if you have sweaty fingers it will feel a bit less slippery/a bit more sticky
  • SA looks very good and the quality is good too

Disclaimer: I am no keyboard expert and have not tried many keebs or caps. Please correct me if I provided the wrong information  ^-^

Edit: Scheisse this should have gone in Reviews, can someone move it please
