[IC] The Jumpsuit Set
« on: Sat, 29 October 2016, 21:35:00 »
I happen to just absolutely love the Out of the Vault keys that 00zeRO has been creating over the last two year, especially the ones in Jumpsuit Blue.

So after a few PMs between the two of us over the last day, I thought I'd take a shot at mocking up what a Jumpsuit Blue Out of the Vault keyset might look like.

To get the conversation started, here's a mockup of a full 104 key keyboard:
151619-0

The colors used are:
Jumpsuit Blue (BFK)
Rad Hard Yellow (YY)
Cola Classic Red (RR)
White (WA)

This would be in doubleshot Signature Plastic ABS. Leaning towards DSA, but I also wanted to know if there was interest in a SA R3 set.

What do you think?

Novelties? Or do you think that might work as some accents?

Nice!  I'm kind of surprised this hasn't come about sooner.  I wouldn't mind seeing some more red/yellow accent keys.

As for profile, I'd like R3 but DSA would mean it could get done this century and I'd finally have a use for my Nuka Cola cap.

As many know, I am strictly a novelty person, but I would totally support this no matter which profile, though I vote DSA

Love this, agreed on some other comments I'd like to see a little more color brought in, though maybe mostly with novelties so the base set is still very clean.

I liked the way hitchhiker used some flavor text from the books on their novelties, maybe we could use some phrases from the in game music?  Something like "Crawl Out" immediately comes to mind

Make a list! (I'm lazy)

Right now I have:
FALLOUT
THREE DOG
VAULT
JUMPSUIT
MEGATON
FAT MAN
LAUNCH
ABORT
RUB OUT
DEF CON

I mean, I'm cribbing pretty hard from the Rad Hard set. Out of the Vault was born from Nuclear Data, and I kind of see them all being one big family.

Colors are perfect.

The amount of  keys will still need some work if you wish to satisfy a good cross section of GHers.

I personally use 1u "+" on my number pad, with an additional "=" key. Seems to be hard to get those sometimes. My Danger Zone SA R3 set included them in the number pad child pack. Didn't include a "Clear" key though.

This is a very nice set. I'd consider trying DSA, but all my novelties are in SA R3... Hard to justify a switch when you can't carry anything over... I'm kinda uncertain there...  :-\

Yellow mods would be far too much yellow IMO. The Vault-tec jumpsuit only uses yellow for trim details and logos. I like the way the mods are in the original mockup. This style worked really well for Nuclear Data and it's been a long time since we had a set like that   :D

Good call on the red & yellow highlights.  You didn't go overboard with them but they do add a lot to the set.

I still think this series needs a mushroom cloud novelty cap.   ;)

So I don't have an ortholinear keyboard (though I am thinking about getting one).

How would this look as a preonic/planck kit? It would only be a kit of 6 new keys, (or 7 [the keypad's - key] if this was a TKL/numberpad set). What other ortho's should I worry about?

It probably needs a central ring to really look more like a mushroom cloud and less like a piece of broccoli.

What I'm toying with at this point is a single-color set (yellow on blue) and then child kits so that you can add accents with.
