KMAC 2 and RGB led customization
« on: Sun, 13 November 2016, 18:45:42 »
Hello,

I am a bit confused and was hoping someone could help me get pointed in the right direction. My goal is to change the LEDs on the function keys from the original single color LEDs to RGB LEDs. I know some sort of controller is required to set the colors and I can't just solder them on there, but I'm not sure how that works with the keyboard. Can anyone give me some tips on what kind of parts I would need or where to learn more?

Thanks so much.

You can always install rgb led size 1.8mm-3mm on the function row through the switch

However you will not be able to control the rgb on the led with the pcb. You need a special pcb to do that and as far as I know there is no pcb that supports kmac2

The usual option which kmac owner chose is to get Gon pcb which supports GUI keymapping and full led support across the board (again not sure about rgb)

Okay, I didn't know about that. This is the PCB you are referring to, correct? http://www.gonskeyboardworks.com/pcbs-and-controllers/115-nerd-tkl-for-kmac.html

So I can just take my keyboard apart and replace the PCB with that one, and I can have RGB LEDs on every key and control them all just like I would on a stock RGB keyboard like the Ducky Shine 5? I would really love to be able to have the "raindrop mode" on the KMAC!

U can not do that with only 2-leg led.U need 4 leg RGB led 1.8mm-3mm to using that
