Two wacky POS boards
« on: Wed, 18 January 2017, 23:22:08 »
I have no idea what kinds of switches these have (RD, probably?) or if they're something anyone here would be interested in owning. But they're so fun-looking, I just had to post photos:

CLIDEPOINT ACCESS KEYBOARDS POS KEYBOARD W/ CARD SWIPE ! WORKS !

(BIN $33.57 + 15.00 shipping)

For some reason, this one reminds me of the Space Cadet. And dig the tiny Japan-style spacebar!

Access-IS Keyboards Programmable Point of Sales POS Keyboard AKEOCUL292/1

($79.99 + 21.05 shipping)

Whatta fruit salad! Big ol' corner keys! You gotta love this stuff.

By POS they mean "piece of ****" right?
If so, that is a very honest eBay post.

That giant Enter key on the bottom board looks like it would be so satisfying to press...

Cherry black switches.  Those big keys have 4 switches underneath...

[edit]
If you're buying one of these, make sure the cable is in the picture.

To reprogram, you'll need a win xp with admin access and if it's a ps/2 cable - you'll also need a native ps/2 port; an adaptor won't suffice.

:?)  I'd hook up one of them to operate my garage door.

So both are mechanical? That's cool. If the 2nd one had an alphanumerical section, I'd buy it in a second—just seeing colors like that cheers you up.

The 1st is clearly PS/2, and the 2nd's USB. Or were you were referring to POS boards in general?

...more in general.  POS keyboards tend to have detachable cables.

Note that some of the caps might be double shots, the rest laser and infill.  Caps will be made by signature plastics.

You can do some pretty weird things with them for sure.

Are those removable blockers in place of the missing keys?

No, the blockers sit over the key switch.  They're a complete bastard to remove unless you remove the surrounding keys...

I'm trying to imagine what it'd be like to type on something vertically aligned like that... Is that seriously a thing people do? (If not, I could easily accept it as an art object.)
