Problems with my HHKB pro 2
« on: Wed, 08 February 2017, 16:49:58 »
Hey. So as subject says.. having some pretty big problems with my HHKB. For some backround info.. I got the kb around a year ago. Around half a year ago I decided to dental band it, that went great and everything had been working fine. About 4 months ago give or take I got a pok3r with cherry mx's, which I had switched to as my daily. Yesterday, I had an urge to use my HHKB again.. however I really wanted to undo the dental band mod. I did that.. and that went fine. However, the second I plugged the keyboard in, my PC blue screened and gave me a SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error. I didn't realize it was the keyboard at first, after restoring and plugging it in again and it doing the same thing, I realized it. Any other keyboard I have works fine (Pok3r, WASD Keyboard, Real force). Does anyone have any idea what this could possibly be? thanks

could be the connector to the dip switches, a short somewhere.... hard to say because there is a lot going on in those little boxes...do you have a multimeter? is it shorting out the usb or something?

Don't have a  multimeter no. not really sure what it is.. I have no idea. short sounds the most likely but I don't know how to go about fixing it

I would suggest taking it back apart and being super careful about re assembly, the Topre switches are electrostatic so they are sensitive to very minor things. No extra parts after re assembly?

Make sure all your dip switches are set to default, maybe it got set to something weird, and if possible try it on a diff machine or os. You could try a linux live cd/usb.

All the dip switches are set to default and have always been. unfortunately I don't have another os/comp/etc to try it on. I'm thinking sending it in for repair might be the best option?
