GMK Keycaps Space Bar Sound When Bottoming Out.
« on: Wed, 15 February 2017, 18:41:37 »
So, I'm so close to buying the GMK Plum set by Jessica on Massdrop, but I have 1 and only 1 hold up, and it's a weird one, so brace yourself...

I have a set of thick PBT keycaps from Ducky, and the spacebar makes this heavenly noise when bottoming out. I reference a video below because it picks up EXACTLY the sound I'm hearing. The sound is very prominent from the 14 - 16 second mark of the video when the person in the video bottoms out the space bar.

My Ducky keycaps are OEM profile, and the keycaps the human in this video has are SA.

My question: Do GMK spacebars generally make this same noise when bottomed out because of their thickness, or does this have more to do with profile of the keycap?

I know, this is a bizarre question, but if I'm going to spend THAT much money on a set of keycaps, I want them to be perfect.

Thanks for any input you may have!

From my limited experiences, GMK generally don't have much noise bottoming out. However the up clack is HUGE and hollow sounding, which is very annoying. It also rattle quite a bit more than other types of switches.
